COASTSWEEP

From late August into November, thousands of people in Massachusetts volunteer for COASTSWEEP—the statewide beach cleanup sponsored by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM). COASTSWEEP is part of the International Coastal Cleanup organized by Ocean Conservancy in Washington, DC. Volunteers from all over the world collect marine debris—trash, fishing line, and any other human-made items—and categorize and tally what they find. This information is then used to help discover marine debris sources and find solutions to this problem.

36th Annual Treasure Hunt- Bay State Council of Divers

Each year, the Bay State Council of divers hosts the Annual Treasure Hunt. Participants disperse at Half Moon Beach at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, MA to find the hidden treasures. This year the treasure hunt is a land treasure hunt.
 There will be a ton of prizes!!! $900 regulator, BCDs, charters, gift cards from so many shops, make,  backscatter camera equipment. The list goes on and on and on!!

This event is open to anyone interested in SCUBA diving  and snorkeling.

Search for the Defender- Rick Simon
MetroWest Dive Club

Rick Simon of Shoreline Diving services recently located the remains of experimental submarine in Long Island Sound. Rick Simon oversaw deck operations while divers Steve Abbate and Joe Mazraani descended to the wreckage. The pair found an intact submarine. The length, the size and shape of protrusions on the submarine’s distinct keel, and the shape and location of diving planes characteristic of Lake-built vessels helped identify Defender.

New England Aquarium Dive Club & REEF-
​GREAT ANNUAL FISH COUNT

Each year, the New England Aquarium Dive Club (NEADC) teams up with REEF to host the Great Annual Fish Count. Participants disperse amongst dive locations throughout New England to survey fish populations. After the survey, divers gather at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, MA for raffle prizes and a BBQ. Those that participate and submit their results to Reef, are entered in to a a raffle.

Winging it for Diving- 4th Annual Event

TRP will host their 4th annual Winging it for Diving contest April 1, 2023 at Hamilton Bar and Restaurant in Brookline, MA.
Hamilton Bar and restaurant will host up to 30 teams in a wing eating contest. The contest is $125 to enter per team of 4. The winning team will have their names inscribed on the 4 foot “Winging It” trident trophy and bragging rights that they are the kings and queens of the wing-eating world, or at the very least of Brookline. In addition to the trophy and bragging rights, there will be one other prize for the winning team that will be announced on the evening of the event. We will also have a special DJ on site throwing down some vinyl and tunes as well as a great silent auction with some must-have items to bid on.
