BU Course Description: Try something new and spend some time underwater with scuba diving. Scuba certification is offered frequently during both academic semesters and in the summer. The course includes all pool practice, academic training, and open water dives necessary to be certified as a scuba diver. Participants must demonstrate the ability to swim.
Prerequisite: 200-yard swim test and 10 minute float. Course includes all pool and academic training to become scuba certified.
Equipment: Pool equipment is provided, students must provide their own personal equipment (mask, fins, and snorkel). Personal dive equipment will be sized on the first day of class, and students may purchase this equipment through the instructor for a discounted fee (generally $150-$250).
Waivers Required: All students must complete a medical form prior to the first day of class.
Course Fee: Lab fee: $850 fee due before class, payable online. Fee includes books, pool equipment (tanks, BCD, regulator, etc), and open water dive trips for certification.
Credits: 1 credit
Required Open Water Trip in addition to course.
