3 1/2 Fathoms Ledge
We hit a new Boston Harbor site for us- 3 1/2 Fathoms Ledge- with Boston Scuba for two incredible dives. The fog made it a unique experience with some areas difficult to see where the sky and ocean met. Ultimately with the heavy fog, all dive teams used reels so we’d be guaranteed to come up the boat’s anchor line for safety.
We registered a temp of 46°F at 55ft max depth.
This dive site is loaded with beautiful walls, some that drop down to depths surpassing 80 feet. One of the dive teams reported hitting 75ft deep and registering 44°F. We explored a bunch of cool swim throughs and saw a stunning black sea raven, loads of sea stars, flounder, anemones, rock gunnels, lobsters, Jonah crabs, cunner, and a few tiny nudibranchs.
Parking: Boat Charter Only
Levels: Intermediate
Max Depth at High Tide: 85 Feet
Ideal Wind Direction: This site is in open ocean so n/a
