Maura Keane
Maura Keane's first open water dive was in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. She had been accustomed to the idea of dives in warmer climates and hadn't necessarily considered diving in New England. One of her instructor's contacted her when she came back from her trip newly certified, eager to get her diving in New England. Her first New England Dive was Nubble Light (pictured on the left) and she was immediately hooked.
Maura wasn't fortunate to know diving was a popular sport right here in New England as she grew up but when she was introduced into it in her 20s, as a new diver, one of Maura's biggest struggles was finding people to dive with. She took her instructor's advice and joined a local dive club and coupled that with being active in the diving community such as going to the big summer diving events and introducing herself to other diving clubs, her network began to explode.
